We all know what it feels like to try on a new pair of pants and to see ourselves in those full-length, fitting room mirrors, bathed in fluorescent light. It's like a scene out of a horror movie. And sadly, we can let it ruin our whole day.
While the long-term solution is to get control of our minds and stop going down Self-Loathing Road, in the short term, the best way to get your spirits back up - and fast - is simply to go find another mirror.
Angles and lighting play a huge part in how we see ourselves in mirrors - and even mirrors, themselves, can change our appearance from one to the other. Some make us look shorter and fatter, and others make us look tall and glowing.
Let's face it - it's hard to go from a fitting room-induced depression to confidence and joy. That's a huge goal to work towards, but until then, make it easy on yourself and just go find another mirror. Find one that makes you see something you like (and don't forget to look for something you like!) and watch your mood start to lift. Then you'll be in a much better mental space to get back in the game!
